Raid rules

July 2, 2010

As of today, the following raid rules are in action.

Everyone who wishes to join for our guild raids will be expected to read and comply with these rules.  If you don’t, you will not be raiding with us.

The goal of this document is to bring a little bit of structure to our raids, and to keep things nice and relaxed for all of us.

You can find the PDF here.

If you have any questions or remarks, you can put them in the comment section.

Oh Holy Knight – part4 – enchants

May 26, 2010

Now that we’re all nice and gemmed, let’s take a look at some enchants.  I’ll put the ones I prefer first.  They are generally more expensive, so if you’re on a tight budget, you could get the cheaper ones.

Oh Holy Knight – part3 – stats, gear & gems.

May 3, 2010

Stats

Sure you want to heal?  Got your spec and glyphs figured out?  Good!  Let’s have a quick look at which stats are useful for holy paladins:

  • Intellect: your most wanted stat.  It gives you a huge mana pool, crit and mana regen.
  • Crit: we have a talent that returns 30% of the mana cost whenever a spell crits.  There will be plenty of crit on your gear, so there’s no need to gem for it.
  • Mp5: this is your passive mana regeneration stat.  Most of it will be on your gear.
  • Haste: shortens the time it takes to cast heals.  Paladins have a talent which gives us a nice chunk of haste when we have a judgement up on an enemy.Look at haste as a bonus stat.  It doesn’t really make your spells better, it just makes them faster.

Oh Holy Knight – part2 – talents & glyphs

April 29, 2010

Talents

Becoming a good paladin healer starts with a good spec.  Let’s have a look at the 2 most popular talent builds.  There are variations, but it should give you an idea.

If you’re still gearing up, I would recommend something like this.

This spec gives you the full toolbox of the holy tree, while getting an extra 8% crit from retribution.  It also gives the raid 3% extra crit chance on an enemy you have judged.   This talent build is designed to conserve mana.

Oh Holy Knight – part1 – Do I want to be a holy paladin?

April 23, 2010

You look around.  Enemy corpses as far as the eye can see.  A mere memory of the past.  Cheers of joy emerge from the front line, while you observe from afar.  Quietly.  Peacefully.  You’re not there for the glory.  Deep down you know that you are the reason why they’re celebrating, instead of mourning the loss of their comrades. You are a healer.

Before we start this guide, let’s try to figure out if paladin healing is something for you. Read the rest of this entry »

Druid Healing…..the basics

April 11, 2010

Hey guys can’t let Blood get away with being the only class blogger so this just has to be done. I know you’ll know a lot of this already, but thought I’d write it to help out our up and coming raiders too.

You can get most of your gear now as we all know from the badges. Tier 9 from the leather vendor shop next to ally bank but only worth stacking 4 pieces and get the headpiece from the main vendors in Dalaran.

The same vendor will give you one of youre trinkets for healing, a nice cloak either from frost badges or downgrade badges a level for a good starting cloak.  He’ll also supply you with some very nice rings if you’re in the marked for some shinies.

Forge of souls, Pit of Saron and Halls of Reflection will give you youre belt, boots, bracers, weapon off-hand and the crit trinket (last boss pos). OMG that must be us sorted !!

Great thing about being a tree even if you’re gear makes you look a bit strange you can’t tell you’ll always look great and be the grooviest dancer on the block……well at least till they remove our branches in expansion (so best not to go naked).

Stats yeah they’re the things we all love to hate. Well I stack Spellpower and Spirit(in that order) then Haste. Crit seem to be given to you in abundance on your gear….seems to work for me anyway. I dont gem or stack MP5 I just take what i get on my gear.

Major Glyphs: Wild Growth, Nourish and regrowth (or innervate if you’re struggling with mana regen) initially but once you have endgame gear and loads of haste rapid rejuvination is a great glyph to trade in (replace regrowth)

Minor Glyphs: unburdened rebirth and the other 2 are your choice

It’ll amaze you how much of a boost you can get by enchanting, glyphing and gemming well.

Druids are built as tank healers although they have a few tricks up their sleeves to aid the raid too. Spell rotation…hots hots and more hots get em on and keep em on the more the merrier. I normally stick Regrowth and Rejuvination on and Lifebloom helps if you remember. Then just spam Nourish and keep those hots topped up.

Wildgrowth is there to hit up to 6 targets if you buy into the glyph 5 if not. So you can put it on tank if he has a lot of melee in range or put it on yourself if there are more casters. It just helps top the raid up along with Tranquility, but don’t forget your other healers are there too. So if you’re on the tank initially focus on him the rest will come as you feel happy with your healing.

Dont leave you’re innervate until the last-minute if you think its gonna be a long fight get one in a bit earlier so it comes around again for you later. To be honest the beauty I find healing with my druid is that mana doesn’t seem to be the issue….unlike my priest but that’s a whole other blog.

Dont forget your raid mods I just can’t live without healbott especially if there is more than 5 in a group.

Deadly Boss mods a must for all raiders in general if you go to the information tab in Social there’s a lot of other information on useful websites and addons you might need to help the raid group.

If you’re really bored this is my pre cataclysm spec http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Draenor&cn=Will%C3%B3w&gn=Lazarus. Hope it helps….found that boomkin as offspec is great for icc 10 as one of the bosses the raid drops down to 2 healers and needs a caster offspec, plus the gear is really easy to sneak a couple of pieces out and get a couple of pieces in to give you 341 in hit.

How to WoW safely & Getting rid of keyloggers.

March 31, 2010

If you’ve been playing WoW for a while, I’m sure you know at least one person whose account got stolen. Those scammers make a lot of money, so they can be quite inventive when it comes to ripping people off.

Even though you can never be 100% safe, there are steps you can take to add some extra layers of security to your computer.  I was thinking of typing up a guide myself, but then I came across this very nice post on the official wow-europe forums.

It gives you advice on how to keep your account secure, and what to do when you do get “hacked”.

http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=35983697&sid=1

One thing the guide does not mention: Please contact an officer if your account gets stolen (you can use the e-mail form on this blog to contact Percival).  That way, we can demote your characters for security reasons, and we can inform the guild about what’s going on.
